We’ve had our ear to the ground about our iPhone app for quite some time now, and today it’s official. Apple has approved our iPhone app so it’s now available for FREE. The Pogoplug app lets your access your external hard drive from wherever iPhone works.
Some fun things to do with our app:
- Stream your music from your home and play it through your iPhone.
- Watch a movie while you’re on the road (passenger seat, of course) by accessing the movie archive on your home drive.
- Back up photos in case your iPhone gets lost, stolen, or dropped in a puddle (hey, it happens).
With Pogoplug’s iPhone app, you can also instantly share your pictures with friends and family. If your iPhone can connect to the web, pictures that go to your shared folders are instantly available to your friends and family.
This is only the tip of the iceberg. We’re plugging away on new mobile devices and features everyday, so stay tuned for more exciting news from Pogoplug. Kudos, questions or comments are warmly welcome here and on our community forum.
I don’t have an iPhone but I use my iPod Touch everyday. Thanks for including it. I can’t wait to try it.
I am psyched about this. I’m about 30 seconds from buying the pogo plug just because of the coolness of this iPhone app.
QUESTION for Pogoplug: Does the Pogoplug iPhone app support playing a playlist of songs? If not, then that means that when one song is finished playing, then I must manually choose and play another song, and when that song is done, go back to the app to play another, etc. which is not feasible when driving in the car.
I’m gonna buy the thing anyway but if the iPhone app doesn’t support playlist playback PLEASE add it! That would be a real game changer!
It works great with my iTouch! I’m streaming music from my pogoplug to my iPod and blasting the tunes through my iHome clock radio! Sweet! Check my review and commentary on the Pogoplug on my blog / podcast :

Just put pogoplug into the search box and check out all I have to say.

This is a great start! My only gripe is that you cannot view or access more than the first 25 items in the directory you selected. You guys are doing a great job so far. I love my Pogoplug!
I was able to stream videos from my pogoplug connected hard drive no problem, same with the music, but viewing photos doesn’t seem to work. All of the images are linking to blank screens.
Will there be a new version of the app that will allow you to see more than 20 folders on your hard drive? Really enjoying pogoplug.
Is the app able to stream .flac files over 3G without transcoding? I am still looking for this ability on my iPhone.
Great start, now let’s get going on the Blackberry, which has 15 million users versus 9 million for the iPhone.
I imagine that’s an interesting way to put it. Never guessed I’d hear you say this, however, after all your other blogs about the iPhone.
Do you plan to allow sending eMail from iPhone attaching files stored on Pogoplug? If Yes, your application is perfect !
